Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

I finally got the chance to view Part 3 of “The Weight of the Nation”… well, most of Part 3. I missed the last 10 minutes when my server connection froze. After multiple attempts to reconnect, I decided to hang it up – I think I saw enough of it to render an opinion, anyway

Pizza Is Not a Vegetable

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

So much for good intentions… Is pizza with tomato sauce a vegetable? Apparently yes, according to Congress, which on Monday blocked legislation that would have made school lunches healthier. In their final version of a spending bill that includes planning for the $11 billion National School Lunch Program, House and Senate committee members blocked or

From the Department of Duh!

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

This New York Times article about school soda bans made me heave a long, deep sigh… State laws that ban soda in schools — but not other sweetened beverages — have virtually no impact on the amount of sugary drinks middle school students buy and consume at school, a new study shows.
